Telephone connection to Sky+ box
When I switched box on today I got a message telling me that I should connect to telephone line to avail myself of Sky's interactive services. As far as I was concerned it was already connected!
This made me wonder, as I hadn't been charged for the last couple of Sky Box Office purchases.
I tried to connect to Sky via thru box using remote, but depending on which menu I went thru' I got phoneline busy or connection interrupted messages.
Tried disconnecting B/Band and ordinary phone - no difference.Reset the box - no difference.
Looks like either fault with the Box or (more likely) phone extension cable fitted by Sky Engineer.
As I'm still in warranty period will they give me free engineer visit?
EDIT Forgot to say phone line and B/Band connection fine.

Re: Telephone connection to Sky+ box
maybe the box has a faul with the modem, i wouldnt say nothing, until sky tell you to connect up and then you say the box is faulty, thus sky's fault

Re: Telephone connection to Sky+ box
Are you with BT? Is your phone number witheld? Also, check the Telephone Settings in ( on the remote ) Services, 0, 0, 1, Select, 3. Make sure the Sky box has its own ADSL filter.

Re: Telephone connection to Sky+ box
Yes I'm with BT; Yes its all filtered(I tried several different ones),number isn't withheld and phone line and BB connection fine.
Its all worked fine since July when I had Sky installed-the phone not connected messages have never appeared before this morning.

Re: Telephone connection to Sky+ box
Problem solved - rigged up a spare modem cable on a telephone extension lead and connected to Sky+ box; rings home OK now. Looks like the installer supplied telephone cable is u/s - crimped on connections look pretty dodgy - i'll just connect the box to the phone every now and then to make sure my wife doesn't build up a huge bill on Box Ofice!!!
