recording old recordings to DVD-R problem

last night i tried to copy some old recordings to DVD-R's using a panasonic dvd recorder but all the old recordings say "no rec" on the dvd recorder displayand says copy protection on screen

      i have a PACE TDS470N SKY+ PVR3 BOX (SD sky box)

all my old recordings since upto around oct/nov 2009 that have the problem

i know that i was able to record them all to DVD-R's a few months ago but for some reason i can not now does anyone know why?

all new/ recent recordings copy fine so its not a faulty machine

the only difference is the new (white) viewing card
all the old recordings play back perfect just wont allow then to record to DVD-R
could the new card put a copy protection on the old recordings???

      thank you.

Yes, that's exactly what's happened. Lots of people complaining about it, especially as we were not forwarned this was going to happen. There's nothing wrong with your machine, it's just that the new white card won't allow copying of recordings made with the old card. I think people with older Thomson HD boxes can still do it, but via component out only.

Have you tried connecting to the TV out SCART? if not you could use an RF modulator and record them off the RF1 or RF2 output.

Probably, but the forum rules are pretty tight about posts discussing defeating Sky's security mechanisms

Re: recording old recordings to DVD-R problem

I would agree although in this situation it is Sky's ,istake and they would normally allow these programmes to be copied.

In fact, if he recorded them again with the new card he could just transfer them.

Re: recording old recordings to DVD-R problem

An RF modulator will convert the SCART feed into a standard RF (aerial type) feed, this can then be tuned into your DVD recorder (assuming it has an RF/aerial input) and recorded as if it were a TV channel recieved via an aerial.
