Lost picture on second tv

Ive always had sky linked by cable to the upstairs tv but today i moved the sky box to the other side of the room and replaced the cable with another longer one but i barely get a picture now and the green circle on the sky+ box is going mad when its connected, what can be causing this? The cable is around 5m long with moulded plugs on each end of it, surely the boost from the sky box can cover this distance?

It has been known for premaid leads to have a fault on them, not often but I have seen a couple. Do you have a test meter you can check it with to ensure the inner and outer core are not shorting?

Unfortunately not, i guess it could be that if its causing the sky box to go mad. If it was just a break in the cable i guess there would just be a bad picture.I will have to pick up another cable and see if it makes a difference. At least i can just tape the two cables together to get them through the hole in the ceiling.

A new cable sorted the problem out straight away, got a lot better picture now on the second tv.
