      Malfunctioning sky plus box?

      Hi

      I turn my skybox off to standby to save electricity, however it is not re-starting straight away the following day. i am having to unplug it and continuously pressing the on off button and it will eventually work after 3-4 mins (at the moment)

      The box is about 3 months old. Ironically i was contacted just the other day about insurance for sky - i assume for my box? (didnt give them time to explain!) but is it not under warranty?

      is the answer simply to just not switch it off?!

      The first 90 days they will give you a brand new box, after this time you would get a refurb box.
      If you have insurance then if the box goes wrong they will replace with a new one and not a refurb.

      If you are switching the box off at the mains, it will take 3-4 minutes for the EPG to populate, after which you can view.

      If you are simply leaving it on standby ( red light showing ), the box may be losing the signal from the Default Transponder, in which case it won't boot up till the Default Transponder has been found, and the EPG populated. Have a look at Signal Strengths in the Service menu.
