Magic Eye not working with new Sky HD box

I previously had a Sky + box in the lounge and a Magic Eye in our bedroom, all worked well and I could change channels etc, but since the Sky + box was upgraded to HD I can no longer control the Sky HD Box? I receive the picture upstairs fine on the channel that was previously set on the Sky + box (Set the HD box to the same) and the LED on the magic eye lights up but I cannot change any channels or access the sky menu??

Has anyone else experienced this, is there a fix?

The Sky engineer who installed my HD a couple of weeks ago asked if I had magic eye's when I said no, he said thats good and something about the HD box causing interference to them! as I dont have any I didn't really take alot of notice of what he said.

When I plug the magic eye into a short cable out of the back of the RF2 outlet on the HD box I can access the sky menu by pointing the remote at it. I have checked to make sure that it is only being received by the magic eye by covering the front of the sky box as well.

This seems very weird as nothing else has changed and it all worked fine with the sky plus box!

Magic eyes rely on a good DC contact between the box and the magic eye, so any dirty contacts on plugs and sockets will cause a break in the DC path, and the magic eye needs DC to power it. RF signals can jump over bad contacts, which is why the TV works, and the magic eye doesn't.
