      Free Channels on Sky

      Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone can help. I currently have Sky in my bedroom as a second sub. If I cancel this sub what channels would I still be able to view?

      Cheers

If you simply remove the card, you will get the FreeSat channels, see freesat - Channels - With freesat, it's access all areas

      For a one-off payment of 20 for a Free-To-Air card you will get these: Sky.com - Sky Products>Sky TV>What Can I Watch?>Free-To-Air Channels

      Regards,

      Felix

I believe your sub. card becomes a Free-To Air card when the subs are cancelled

Rubbish. FTA doesn't require a card.

I think you need to read your weblink more carefully.

Some clearly state they need the card.

      Re: Free Channels on Sky

Sam Radford is confusing FTA and FTV. Some channels are FTV which means they don't require a subscription but they are encrypted and you require the means to view. So FTV in this case requires a Sky Digibox and a Sky Freesat Card which could simply be an old card after a Sky subscription is terminated. However with Sky now changing all their Viewing Cards older cards may need changing for FTV purposes.

A good example of FTV is C4 HD. If you don't have a Sky Freesat Card then you won't be able to view as the channel is encrypted. That's why you can watch C4 HD for free on a Sky HD box with a Sky Freesat card but can't view it on BBC/ITV Freesat at all.
