sky tv+ with old Ferguson TV

      Hi All,

I'm thinking of getting Sky+ but have an old Ferguson TV (at least 15 years old) with only an ariel input at the back. I wondered if the sky+ box would be able to connect to this? Will I still have all the functionality that I would have with a scart connection. Finally, will the wider screen channels be fully visible on the old TV?

      Many thanks,

      Mike

Yes, you can connect up voa the RF output and receive the same features record pause etc.

You will be able to view you widescreen pictures but the will be letterbox (black bar at top and bottom).

You should be able to set the screen size in the menu.

Too true! I've been waiting for years for Ferguson to blow up so I have an excuse to buy a new one. No such luck though. Can only persuade the missus to go for Sky at the moment. Will have to wait for a new box!

Picture quality will be slightly down on a scart RGB feed, and the audio will only be mono, but as already confirmed it will still work. I'm not sure if the RF output is on by default on the boxes.

As time went on most CRT televisions got more and more reliable. They just keep going until the "Tube Dies" I've got a 16" Philips KT3 in the spare bedroom which I brought in 1979 when I started work still going strong! nearly 30 years old ekk! I just cant bring myself to skip it. Its been lent out to friends and family many times when there teles have packed up. I've also got a 20 year old 21" Sony in my bedroom again still going strong.

You will need to tune the tv to the sky box. If you find interference on your sky once tuned in, on sky remote press service, Highlight option 4 system set up press select, Press 0 then 1 then select. (hiding menu not seen on tv screen), press 4 and press select it will show the RF channels number. Highlight rf channel number and press the up and down arrow key to change number and highlight save new setting and press select. Retuning of the tv would be needed. If you need any more help click below. rf snow picture screen help from sky.com.
