      No signal being received.........

Had Sky+ installed so decided to put the old standard box in the bedroom and use it as a freeview receiver. Connected it to the third socket on the quad LNB using the original cable and connectors but all I get is "No satellite signal received". Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong?
      Thanks in advance.

Probably a poor connection! When you strip the cable, strip about 20mm of the outer sheath, fold all the braided strands back over the sheath, remove the copper foil, strip the dilectric to leave about 3mm proud of the braiding, fit your f plug and trim the center core to leave about 2mm proud of the f plug.

Thanks Woodster. Tried redoing the plug but no different.
Will try changing to the last socket on the LNB tomorrow - can't think of anything else to try.
      Cheers.

Try disconnecting the sky + and see if it still works with a known good feed.
If it doesnt then the box is obviously goosed. If it does then more than likely a cabling issue.
