    sky + standby

    This is a discussion on sky + standby within the Sky & Sky+ TV forums, part of the Other Sky help and support category; my sky box has been on standby all day and will not switch back on, weve tried switching it off ...

      sky + standby

      my sky box has been on standby all day and will not switch back on, weve tried switching it off at mains but still wont come on. any ideas?

      Pull the plug and then remove the LNB leads from the back (they just unscrew). Leave it like that for a few minutes and then plug them back in and try again.

      If that doesn;t work then chances are the PSU is gone or on it's way out. A call to Sky for an engineer @ 65 and they will replace it.

      How long have you had Sky plus if under 12 month it should be still in Guarantee let us know

      thanks for the posts weve had it 2 years. apparently because of the box we have there are some problems with the drv update, it started working today.

      Hi so back to normal running great. read about this below if it happens again
      Have you tried a forced software update?
      Ensure your telephone line is plugged in. Unplug the box from the mains and leave 1 minute. Hold down the Backup button while you plug the box back into the mains for about 10 secs or until the front panel lights come on. You should see the message updating system software on the tv. This can take about 15 minutes to complete
