sky + not letting me record

I have just had sky plus added as a multiroom but unfortunatly it is not allowing me to record or access anytime tv. It just comes up with the message please check your sky + subscription ,i have contacted sky on three occasions with no luck. Can anyone think of an explanation and help me?

It sounds as if your sky card has not been upgraded to add the Sky+ features on it. I assume you are paying to be on at least the minimum Sky TV package.

You need to ring Sky and explain that your viewing card needs pairing to the receiver and also that you need your Sky+ subscription adding to it. It should only take a few minutes on the phone and they will ask for the card number, serial number from the receiver etc, you can find all these details by going into your system details menu on the services button.

This should really have been picked up the first time you rang in

Just noticed that this is a multiroom card, be sure to mention it as they have a habbit of doing the wrong card on the account, also ensure that they don't remove the Sky+ rights from the other one as they did for me.

The people on the phone took me through the installation process but i came up with a problem when we got to the box having to use the phoneline,it said callback failed could that have something to do with it?

It could, multi room requires that all boxes be permanently connected to the phone line. If yours is not connected or failing to connect, the activation would fail. Is it connected to an active phone?

ye active phone line,would having a filter on the phone line make any difference?

It should not, in fact if you don't have a filter it will impact badly on your broadband. Try it without the filter and see if it can connect. Could be a dodgy filter.

i havent got a filter on that particular socket so il try it with 1.when i was checkin the phone line on the setup menu it was sayin phone line connected and then it would flash up with phone line busy, it wes very intermiscent .

If you don't have a filter on it you will get cross noise from your modem, this could cause the modem in the Sky box to drop it's connection. You should also have noticed this on your broadband, everything connected to the phone line must go through a filter.

thanks i wasnt sure about that. so would that effect my abiltiy to record or not?

The Sky+ will not record until it is properly paired with the card, if the phone is not working they will not , or cannot do it. Try it with a filter and or switch off your modem while you try to get it activated.
