problems with playing recordings
Ive started getting some problems when watching recorded programs. When it comes to the first ad break i press to fast forward it and the program restarts back at the beginning. It only does it once per program but its started doing it a few times a week. What could be causing it? The box is a refurb one from sky with a load of vents on top of it that are always kept clear.

Re: problems with playing recordings
First thing to do is a Planner Rebuild. Press Services,4, 0, 1, & Select. This brings you to the Installers Setup. Use Option 7. The process takes a matter of seconds only, and will leave the box in standby. If the process 'hangs', switch off and try again. The Planner Rebuild does not delete current or planned recordings.

Re: problems with playing recordings
Tried that already and tried leaving it off for a few mins then turning on, still no better. There is also some lag between changing channels sometimes. The light on the box confirms the button has registered but then it does not change for about 10 seconds. If you press more buttons during this lag it will then continue to carry out all the pressed buttons when it fianally catches back up. This isn't a remote issue is it?

Re: problems with playing recordings
Ive been reading about doing a forced update by holding backup while turning on the sky box. Is there a current firmware number to check to see if mine is up to date or not?

Re: problems with playing recordings
It's not a remote issue if the box is registering the commands from it.
Without knowing what make of digibox you have, you could try a simple Full System Reset before doing anything else. Go to the Installers Setup again ( as above ), and use Option 7 - Full System Reset. Note that this will delete all current and planned recordings.
If this doesn't work, do a forced softare update. Make sure your Signal Strength is OK before doing this. Sky pushed out some updates for Thomsons ( I think ) that have caused some problems. Have you spoken to them yet about this. They are aware of the problems caused by this recent update.Panasonic TX-P50G10B, Onkyo HTS 3305, Sky+HD Thomson 4E3007 (with upgraded PSU & WD5000AVDS HDD),

Re: problems with playing recordings
If you do a lot of recordings, it's best to do regular Planner Rebuilds. As with your pc, file maintenance keeps everything in good order, ready to playback without issue. Remember to look in the hidden folder at the bottom of yourt Planner page ( >Options & yellow Recorded button to reveal any failed recordings as well as any other stuff ).

Re: problems with playing recordings
Its still going back to the beginning of programs even after an update and a planner rebuild. It even just turned itself off yesterday afternoon in the middle of a normal program. Had to unplug it to get it restarted.
