use sky box with sky +
hi 1st post here after searching the net
I have heard there is a way to use my old sky box in another room by connecting it to our sky+ box ,I found this site by searching the net and as i couldn't find anything useful I thought I would ask here if it's all legal an stuff ....
If it is OK what would I need to get it all running as I would do it all myself, as I haven't asked sky yet as I only want it for free view watching
thanks

Re: use sky box with sky +
It's possible to connect your old Sky box to the the LNB (on the dish) as used by Sky+ provided Sky fitted a Quad (4 output) LNB. You'd need to run a coax cable from the dish (using a spare LNB output) to the location of your old Sky box. If all you want is free channels then you don't need to do anything else.
Sky essentially do this with a Sky Multiroom installation (but they supply a Viewing Card that gives the same channels as your Sky+ box). After installation costs Sky charge £10/month for this service.
If you can access your dish easily and run some coax cable to your second box then it should work well and only cost you a few pounds and no monthly costs. If you do this take great care not to disturb the dish as the direction it points in is VERY critical.
