      Problem with Sky after Sky HD

      Hello,

      Well I had Sky+HD installed this morning, it was to replace my Sky+ box. The engineer just replaced the box and then did a callback on the box and said that my HD channels would be on within 4 hours.

      At this stage my Standard Box and HD box received the full channel line-up except for the HD channels.

      Well after waiting for 5 hours, my HD box still displayed the message "Wrong viewing card, please insert correct card, call for assistance". So I called Sky Technical Support Team.

      They got me to read the serial number, viewing card number etc. Still nothing, then I had to change the viewing cards over. After about 15 minuted, I get my Sky+HD working. Full channel line up and HD. But when I try and view them on my standard box, Sky Sports and Movies aren't working, I get the message "Wrong viewing card, please insert correct card, call for assistance".
      The Sky Technical Support Advisor now says we have to wait for 2 days before the these channel will be added to the Standard Sky Box. So we are now in a worse position that we was earlier. My dad, who pays half the subscribution is going to be really pleased when he is unable to watch Sky Sports tonight.

      Has awayone else had this problem with Sky?

      Hi,

      Sorry for your troubles.
      It was like reading my own story! I believe that it comes down to the way SKY prioritise your boxes. One of them is designated the primary card/box. In my case, as in yours, the primary was - for some inexplicable reason-the standard box and not the sky + or hd box. So they can quite easily try to update your standard box with a HD signal. Wake up sky!!!
      One would have hoped that their systems would work this out automatically and always default to the hd capable box - not so.
      So telling them the serial number of the box doesnt work on its own if you have two or more boxes.

      A word or warning to all those who are upgrading and already have multiroom. Make sure sky know which of your boxes to upgrade the signal to and ask them to double check the card number on their systems - above all, make sure they know (i know its obvious) that you have two boxes.
      The serial number is not enough, as we can both testify to!!!!

      You do not say so but I assume you have multi-room. Did you get the 2nd card 'paired' at the same time the HD was done?

      Hi

      I do have multi-room. I had a viewing card in the HD box and one in the Standard Box. They could pair the one in the HD box beacuse it wasn't the primary card. So now I have the card from the Standard Box in the HD box and the one from the HD box in the Standard Box.

      They said will have to wait for the standard box to be updated with the channels which they say takes 2 days.
