Do I need a Sky Card?
Hi all. Just a quick one.
My mum has just moved in to a new property with a sky minidish installed. I have an old Amstrad box and am wondering if I connect it, she could watch free to air channels. There isn't a card for it though.
Do you still need a card to watch free to air channels, or not? I've seen the Sky package in Argos for £75 which I might get, but wanted to try this option first.
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Re: Do I need a Sky Card?
No need- Channel 4 and 5 (and all their subsidiary channels) are now Free to Air which means you don't need a card for them either. As far as I am concerned, these channels were the only remaining reason to but a £20 card from Sky if all you want is freesat. Set it up and try without the card - If you find there are some "free" channels you were expecting to get but cannot, suggest you post back.

Re: Do I need a Sky Card?
Thanks all.
I'm gonna hook up a SKY + box tomorrow and see what I get. I'll hunt through the free to air channels and post box what I can't get. Worth knowing about the £20 card if needed.
