Sky+Box stuck in stand by
Does anyone know why my Sky+box has got stuck in stand by? I have phoned Sky and gone through all the tests but still it will not budge, they are sending out an engineer Friday, however i am intrigued to know why? Further more my missus is moaning as she has set a series link for Deal Or No Deal as she is at work and now cant watch it?

Re: Sky+Box stuck in stand by
It could be anything from a power failure to a hard drive.
About the only thing you can do is unplug it from the mains for 5mins, remove both dish feeds and then plug it back in and see if it starts up.
It will take around 30-60secs to boot and then you should get a message of no signal (assuming it does turn on), switch off and plug in the feeds again and cross your fingers.
Do you have a red standby light on (if not check the fuse in the plug)

Thanks Smithy. I have tried all those things without success. I do get the red stand by light, but the thing is as dead as a dodo lol

Can you hear the hard drive spin up when you plug it in?

Re: Sky+Box stuck in stand by
Have you tried to update the software?
Unplug for 1min then holding down the backup button (on the box not the remote) plug it back in, keep the button pressed until you see a message on screen, follow instructions (wait 10 mins etc).
