    When will Sky bring bbc iplayer

      When will Sky bring bbc iplayer

      Other providers are acting fast to bring iplayer, 4od etc to their platforms, anyone know what sky will do?

      I'd guess nothing until Sky integrate their digiboxes with the internet.

      Virgin et al don't have the problem of the TV being delivered via satellite and internet via landline. For something like the BBC iplayer or 4OD you could deliver the audio/video fine down the satellite stream but you need two way to be able to run/control what you're watching which would require an upstream connection - you don't get that with a Sky digibox so you'd have to use the internet for it.

      They have their own Skyplayer using internet only so I doubt they see it as a priority to add the complexity of other services.

      well i was interested in the btvision service but as we all know you have to be a bt broadband customer, no chance. I enjoy my broadband and TV i am hoping that sky take over tiscali and bring a box out that can service users requirements.
