      Multiroom setup Help

Hi Guys and Girls, First Post!!

We have had sky installed this weekend and need some help with connecting the sky boxes to phone line.

We have had 3 sky boxes setup with multiroom (2HD and 1 standard). The problem is we have 1 phone socket which currently has a splitter on for the phone and Sky broadband.

what i would like to know is if i install a extension box and then run to each sky box, will this work, obviously i will need a splitter on before but should that do it?

      Any advice is greatly appreciated.

By far the best way to deal with this is to fit a filter faceplate at the master, connect your router there, and then run extensions from the phone side of the filter to your Sky boxes and anywhere else you like. The filter faceplate will ensure that the extra wiring will not interfer with your broadband.

Hi Brian, thanks for the quick reply.

are these easy to install because i'm not to technical with phone wires!

would an extension box work as well, only because i know how to do that!

thanks, think i'll give this a try.

So this will allow me to have the bb cable straight into the face plate and then the filter for the phone and the sky boxes on the second socket?

      sorry for all the questions!

just thought i'd clarify, at present we have this setup with the microfilter plugged into phone master socket and the router plugs into the filter, we tried to plug a two way phone adapter into this for the phone and extension cable for the sky boxes, but the sky boxes say ther is no telephone line connected. Plugging the extension into the master socket it and the sky boxes work fine.

It's easer than that. A filter faceplate allows for a router connection at the faceplate, and then all your other stuff is connected to the phone side, so you need no other filters at all.

      Re: Multiroom setup Help

The Ringer Equivalence Number doesn't apply to Sky Digiboxes since they contain no ringer. They each have a REN of much less than "1" so don't worry about it.

Even if they did have an effect, it would simply affect the ringing of the phones.

(If someone has more than 4 telephones and experiences ringing problems, they can pay BT about 60 to fit a "REN booster". A second line is not required.)
