It's more a case of 5 years in technology is a hell of a long time. There's no real reason why the box should break after 5 years if it has been made with reasonable components and as i say, sound issues is not a known problem with the sony box.

Well, all was going well then, and now a severe attack of the Helicopter Noise. I didn't think it was going to end, it was that bad. Worse yet.

Is anyone convinced that it's a Sky/Digibox issue? It'll be pretty awful if I get Sky+ HD, and it continues to do the same thing.....?

      Re: Sound Issues

i assume you have a dvd player, if so connect the dvd to the scart socket on the TV that the sky box is currently connected to and vice versa. If it still happens, then it's gotta be the sky box, if it doesn't then pop a dvd in and see if you then get it on the dvd. If you do then it's the telly.

      Re: Sound Issues

While the noise was still going on, I quickly jumped up and swapped over the Scarts Sockets at the TV, noise continued.

Edit: I'm not sure about the DVD situation, as I can't remember if that other Scart (from the telly) is going to the Video or the DVD. Reason being is that I have to tell the TV to select the DVD, whereas I can select the video directly from it's own remote. If you know what I mean.

Just to clarify, the sound disappeared when I unplugged the Scart and came immediately on again as soon as I replugged the Scarts.

And an annoying thing is, when I went to upgrade my equipment on the Sky website, it won't give me a technician until JANUARY!

      Re: Sound Issues

Go to the RDI and/or CAI websites and pick a local installer, he will be able to do it in no time!! Usual turnaround for an independant 3-5 working days if you need a card, same day if you're upgrading.
