      Stargate Atlantis ( SG-1 )

      OK.

Just found out that Stargate Atlantis is being canned ..

About time SKY listened to us as to what we want to watch.

They keep us subscribing by telling us to watch this and that , but do not seem to care if we want to continue watching .

I know there is more to what thay can show us , but they must realise what we really like.

They did the same with other things , and must know where their mistakes are.

What do we ( the people that pay SKY ) have to to make them realise we want to continue watching our favourite series , and not just the constant traffic of one minute hits that appear in the US. ?

Good series have fallen to the roadside in the past because SKY was not willing to spend money making sure they survived.

After watching many things go the way I think we are seeing Stargate Atlantis go ( Startrek Next Generations for one ) are we going to be left with only Sky News ..The Simpsons and the new series that is FRINGE ...

Do not get me wrong here ... FRINGE looks awfull ... I doubt it will make series 3 mind series 2

Where can I let sky know these opinions ?

I cant find their user forums LOL.

      Chris

I don't think it is Sky dropping the series, but the US makers. I wish they had dropped the Simpsons years ago, it is a waste of space, as is Futurama. Have a look here for the Sky 1 Forums -

I meant to add the two films, Ark and Continium were made to wind up the SG1 series after it was dropped.

      Re: Stargate Atlantis ( SG-1 )

I was talking to some "TV" people at a convention, it's a really stuipd system they have. TV execs are constantly rotated, if they inherit a show from their predesesor and it's a hit then it's their predessor's great success yet if it is a failure then it's their fault.

So the solution is that shows are usually canned / put into hiatus, even the Discworld movie Hogfather had it's budget slashed by half when the controller of Sky One was changed as he wanted to kill the project, and that won 2 Baftas and made 30 million profit on DVD sales in the UK alone.

I was talking to the editor of a big US Sci Fi magazine and he said it was a miracle any TV got made let alone sci-fi.
Although there is still hope, Family Guy has managed to survive 2 cancellations and I would have thought as there is a big Stargate Online game coming out next year that they would have wanted a companion show for that.

But hey junior TV execs are apparently 26-32 year olds who haven't got a clue what people want.

      Right.

It is not Sky's fault that the people behind the show have pulled the plug and like you I am disapointed that they have done this but there is another Stargate shows in the making, details of which can be found on the links above.

      Re: Stargate Atlantis ( SG-1 )

I believe rather than make 'tie-up' movies as happened with SG 1, MGM are going to release the continuation of 'Atlantis on DVD only. Maybe a bit more expensive than seeing it on Sky, but it will be a cheap price for aficionados of the series.

      Re: Stargate Atlantis ( SG-1 )

The 3 Futurerama films were straight to DVD originally and then now they are being shown on TV over here, so Sky may purchase to show it if it's being made.
