How can i install a Sky+ Box in another room?

Hi, basically i have sky+ upstairs and normal sky downstairs. I also have a multiroom subscription. I want to buy one of those sky+ boxes on ebay and replace the normal sky box with this, is it possible to do this and have sky pair up the 2nd sky card with the sky+box from ebay? Also would i have to get extra lines running from the dish to the sky+ box? Is there any tutorial on this?

You can get Sky to pair up the cards no issue, however to use Sky+ to its full spec, you would need two feeds from the dish to the Sky+ box.

The LNB you have is a quad, as you have Sky+ (2 feeds) and a standard Sky box (1 feed)

Therefore, you need to run a length of cable from the LNB to the standard box, this would be the length needed, and would need an F connector on either end.

You would then connect one end to the LNB and the other end to the back of the newer Sky+ box. And away you go.

If you only want one feed, ring Sky and then get them to pair the card up to the newer STB.

With one feed, you will still be able to record one channel etc, you just won't be able to watch say a Movies channel, whilst recording a Sports channel, if that makes sense. You would still be ale to watch a pre recorded programme, and record at the same time, afaik

how much will it cost me to get the cable and F connector on either end. Is it hard, cause from your description it seems quite easy.

That all depends on where the box is in relation to your dish. If you are a reasonable diyer you should be able to do it, tho I take no reponsibility for you falling off a ladder etc
For cable try ebay, I used this but the seller does various lengths. I found it looks neater than 2 seperate cables, plus it does fit thru the existing hole and if you use seperate cables you would have to enlarge the hole.
15m Webro WF65 Twin Sky+/HD Satellite Cable Plus 4 F's on eBay, also, Other Satellite Cable, Satellite Cable Freeview, Consumer Electronics (end time 19-Nov-08 11:42:39 GMT)
