Sky+ box clicking when trying to boot up

A couple of days ago i had a powercut when i was watching TV. This has happened before so I unplugged the box for a few minutes came back plugged it in and tryed turning it on.
Now when i press the power button it stays red and makes this loud clicking sound and refuses to power up. After a while it stops clicking. If i leave it the fan starts up for a few seconds and dies down again.
Can anyone help me out here?

Clicking would indicate a knackered HDD

Re: Sky+ box clicking when trying to boot up

If the boxs are PVR3 (anytime TV compatible) powercuts can be very bad for them, as anytime stuff is always streaming down, the harddrive is in full swing most of the time, the sudden power cut can damage the drive.

Re: Sky+ box clicking when trying to boot up

Clicking can indicate a faulty power supply. Usually just a capacitor failure, so easy to fix with a kit from Satcure. But it could be the Hard Drive, as suggested above. Either way, it's fixable for under 80.
