      could of course always be a faulty modem in the sky box itself.

      Just a case of fault finding i'm afraid by trying everything suggested until you are left with no other option other than a faulty modem.

      Just another thought, you are not trying to connect through 2 filters are you? eg. If you have an extension plugged into the main socket via a filter, then another filter at the end of the extension, with the box plugged into that. That will give problems.

      Our number is not with held so i don't think that it is that, but i will have a look anyway.

      I have since plugged the sky connection direct in the phone socket, with no filter or router connected. When I check system set-up I do now get the message "telephone line connected" (hoorah). However, when I try the interactive services to test it, it looks like it is going to connect then comes up with error message that the line as been interrupted! I don't think then line itself is at fault as we have not had problems with phone-calls or being disconnected from the internet.

      Nope, just using the one filter

      I don't think there is any way to check yourself, but the TV section of support should be able to test it. I would not try the Broadband support for this, you are liable to confuse them talking about a modem in your Sky box.

      Yes,
      Remove all the extensions,filters ect & connect the sky tv phone line directly into the main phone point (I'm assuming you have a ext running from the main point to the TV)
      Go to interactive & try & get local cinema listing.Chances are you'll get an error code.If you do it's the modem in the box.
      Also if you have mobile phone call barring (outgoing) then that will affect it as I found out on a repeat service call! The woman did'nt even know she had it.Something to do with the dial number being a 0870 prefix.
