Telewest --> Sky. Need help wireing
Hi all,
Been with sky (tv and broadband max) for over 2 years, just moved house new and want it set up in the new house.
Only that place has telewest boxes everywhere, and the bt line wasn't working.
Just had the BT mechanic in today who noticed that the bt line going in to the house was cut off, so he replaced that, and i now have a working bt phone line.
I've hooked up my wireless router to see if the internet would work, but when i didn't i got told by the sky helpdesk i have to wait for 5 days for that.
So hopefully the internet will work in 5 days, however, i can't seem to get the sky television box to work.
There is a satelite on the house :
And is has one cabling up there which goes to an upstairs bedroom which has this on the wall inside :
And then there's a cable from the satelite coming down on the front of the house, and it goes in a hole in the wall :
Close to that wall is also some black telewest box outside, with a cable going inside through the wall again :
Then in the corner of the living room (where i want the tv, and where i've seen the previous owners had their tv (on pictures) it looks like this :
This is the hole in the wall :
And there are 3 cables coming out, 1 is the arial (which works, because after plugging it in the tv i can get bbc1 etc), the other black one is the bt line the bt man put through there today, and then there is 1 white one, which seems to be cut off.
And on the floor there were also a couple of these cables :
My question now is, how do i wire my sky box up so it works again ?
I tried using this thing :
the left cable is connected to the big box saying telewest broadband, and there other two weren't connected to anything, so i screwed my sky box cable in there (tried both) but the box still says it can't find a satelite.
What am i doing wrong ?

Re: Telewest --> Sky. Need help wireing
If I were you, I would rip all that out and ask an installer or Sky to fit a new dish and cabling. Sky charge £65 for a home move. Which would include a dish and the cable.

Forget everything you have in there, it's rubbish and the old dish is from Sky analog and will not work.
You need a new install with dish, LNB, cables. By attempting to use what you have there you may damage the receiver.
