      Sky is in ex partners name - Can't change package - Help

      Hi all,

      The only thing thats in my ex's name is the sky package and broadband. I phoned up yesterday and asked to get movies removed as I don't use them. The Sky employee asked me for the password which I know but he said its changed. I know its not as I setup the sky and my ex had no idea of the password. The problem is as its in her name and I don't know the 'new' password I can't change a thing. I've ask my ex for help but she's not interested and basically said its my problem.

      Is there anything I can do. Its my house, I pay the bill out of my account and I watch the Sky and use the BB. I'm not looking for be a troublesome customer but Sky don't seem to want to help.

      Any ideas?

      Why not phone again and say you have forgotton the password. As you know all the other details of the account, this would satisfy Sky you are who you say you are.

      I asked them if I could qualify myself by answering any of the security questions. The Sky employee said that its against the data protection act to ask anyone other than the account holder those questions.

      Well get a femail friend to do it for you, you will have to brief her on the details and she can say she has forgotten the pass word.

      Isnt that fraud?

      I'm not trying to break the law, just reduce the channels. Ideally I'd like to get it transfered into my name but I guess thats going to require a new contract?

      Yes I should think so, but you asked for ideas on how to resolve your problem, and if you ex will not co-operate what are you to do?

      I cannot see this is a big problem, there must be lots of accounts where people get divorced or the ac holder dies, and Sky have to transfer to the remaining partner

      Thats not a legal way of resolving the problem though. I'll wait to see if someone has another idea.

      The big problem is your saying I should get someone to pretend to be my ex. I'm not willing to break the law which is why I posted here asking for advice. Thanks for your suggestion but I'll wait for some other responces

      Sorry, I meant it would not be a big problem for Sky to change the AC name once you had got through the security questions. As things stand your ex could ring Sky and sign you up for all the channels going, so you need to get this sorted.

      I agree it would be simple for them to change things over. They just don't want to. Bet it would be a different storey if I wanted to add channels and go HD!
