      use old sky box just for freeview?

      Hi im upgrading to the sky hd and hence my old sky box (drx100 i think) will become useless. can i use this in another room just as a freeview reciever without the sky coaxial cable attached?

      I am pretty sure you would need it connected to the dish to receive anything.

      Yes thats right, the Sky box is a satellite box, at best can be used for some freesat channels, Freeview channels are Terrestrial, a different range of frequencies and different modulation method due to the difference in amounts of noise and things like reflections from buildings/hills, between terrestrial TV and satellite TV.

      The clue is in the name. It's a satellite TV receiver.
