Need help setting up my sky dish

I am trying to install my sky dish and everything at my new address and it is coming up input 1 indicator not locked does anyone know what this means the only reason i tried to set it up myself was so i didnt have pay sky for installation but now with cabling and everything its amounting to even more than it would have cost to get them to come out
if anyone could help or has set up their own dish before and knows what to do i would really really appreciate it

I'm afraid it's not going to be easy. Look at some other houses nearby and see which way they are pointing so you can position it on the correct wall.

You need to get the cable ran to the receiver and then a long patch lead from there to a TV that you can see when you are moving the dish. Then it's just about moving the dish slowly until you see some sign of a picture, lock of the dish at this point and then flex the dish to get it aligned better.

I have installed 100's of dishes, all with a sat meter without any problem and have only lucked onto the signal once before the meter was connected, it's really not a simple thing to do especially if you haven't done it before and you could be hours without any success + there are also other satellite's up there you may find in error just to make it a little harder.

If you want to reduce your costs, you could fit the dish and run in the cable, that may save a few £'s but be sure you put it in the right place
