Turning the box off every night may well increase the likelihood of its PSU failing, but WILL NOT cause it to lose channels.
When the box is powered on, it builds a list of the channels available to it, from the BAT, NIT and SDT tables. If it cannot collect the tables then it fails to boot up.

      Re: No signal channel 4

Its a normal sky box, the white one with blue illuminated sky logo.
Still playing up and is still only affecting channel 4/ filmfour and 4+1. - no signal.
Really annoying as the neighbour downstairs uses the same dish and he still gets all the channels..
      Any more suggestions?

Are you on a communal system with a tv/satellite wall plate? or just sharing a dish with a direct feed?

      Hi Woodster,
My sky lead is connected into some kind of powered junction box in my loft.
My neighbours lead is also connected to this same box.
The box also has a lead coming from the dish.
I live in a converted house which is now 3 flats.

Trying to figure out something like this remotely is almost impossible, you need to contact a local firm to come out and check it on site, they can put an analyser on is and check all the inputs/outputs.

It may be that there is a problem with the splitter that is being used, I am guessing it is some sort of dyplexer unit.

It would be easier if you say there are only three flats to fit an octo LNB and run a couple of cables to each one (to cover Sky+ or HD) but this will be a cost that the others may not want to share.

Do you know which company fitted the unit? That would be the best starting place. Remember if you do have a go yourself or let someone who doesn't know what they are doing have a go there is a real chance you will cut everyone off, not a nice way to meet the neighbours

I agree with Smithy99, but a few last questions.
Can you get RTE radio or ITV4?

I also agree, get someone out to check the switcher, but you can also try to eliminate a few things first. Some wireless phones can knock out various transponders if the base station is too close your sky box, like wise, any wireless device. Are there any spare outputs on the switcher (Junction box in the loft)? if so, try a different output. If you still have no luck, get someone out. If your in london or the home counties, PM me. (I cover London, Herts, beds, bucks, essex, kent, surrey, berks, North Hampshire, oxford, and sometimes northamptonshire. Based in herts)

      Thanks for the replies,
I still get itv4 and rte radio no problem.
I think it maybe easier if I take a photo of the junction box while
I'm in the loft trying to use another output socket.

None of the services listed here are affected by the DECT issue. Wireless routers etc cannot affect sat signals either.
The channels affected are all right down at the low end of the frequency spectrum.
