Amstrad Sky+
I am now the proud owner of a 80gig Amstrad Sky+ Box.
So far I am impressed, and it also does not make to much noise. However one thing that puzzles me is that when I put the Box into standby it sometimes powers up something that sounds like a fan that is intermittent. Is this because that there is a fan inside that keeps things cool in hot weather despite being in Standby?
Also if you record a Sky Movie doing the day that requires you to put in a pin for normal live viewing. Does it record the film or do you get a blank screen?
How does Amstrad rate against the others like Pace etc?

Re: Amstrad Sky+
The noise will be the STB downloading and recording content to the Anytime section.
As for Movies, the PIN during the day is so a child cannot record a film and then watch it before the watershed.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Thanks for the reply. What I meant was if you set the box to record a film during the day that required the pin and you obviously were not there, what would the box actually record? “A screen asking for a pin?

I'm fairly sure it will record OK because it doesn't decode the recording until you actually want to watch. Then it will ask for the PIN (during the day).
