      what should i do?

i recommended a friend off here to join sky and they have been set up with their sky+ box so we recieved a letter saying we could now get ours installed so we arranged it for tuesday for them to come and fit it but was just wondering i have my internet cable in the test socket in the master socket in the hallway so the phone socket behind the tv doesnt work. so should i plug the internet back into the normal connection on the master socket for when they come round or will they not bother about that?

Might be worth getting the wiring sorted in the long run, using the test socket constantly is not a good idea. Personally I would plug the socket in as normal and try to act suprised if it failed to work when the installer arrives.

its just that as soon as you plug it into the normal socket the speed automatically drops from something like 2.5 meg to something like 0.5 meg

Every piece of equipment must be connected via its own microfilter. Sounds as if you forgot to wire it that way.
Why must I connect my Sky Digibox to the phone line?
