Picture break up Engineer says its tree

      Hi All

Hope I can get some advice, recently my picture keeps breaking up and error message no signal. I had an engineer come round and said the tree near my house was the problem so he went away. I cut down the offending branches but i still get some picture break up. Whats more when there is light rain its really bad. I have never has any problems with the tree, Ive had the LNB replaced a year ago which failed and I think its the same problem.

      Any help would be appreciated

      Sav

What are the sig strength and quailty indications? If they are below 50% then you may have a dish alignmet problem, or the cable from the dish may be damaged, or you need to cut away more of the tree

if the LNB has been overworked for a year it may well have gone again.
even if the branches have been trimmed when the wind blows it may still be waving in the line of sight for your dish
my advise would be to get the dish moved (and add new lnb) or get rid of the tree (and get a new lnb)

This tree near your house... it is on your property isn't it? If not I take it you are getting permission to do what you are doing to it??

      Thanks 4 all the posts

Signal strength is over 80 but quality is very low about 1 or 2 bars
Should light rain mess up all the channels ???
Got another engineer out on sunday hope it will get sorted.

Regarding the tree, It is on my property.

That would often point to a faulty LNB to be honest, we had full strength and no quality at all when ours failed.

Re: Picture break up Engineer says its tree

if you put a new LNB on but do not do anything with the tree, you may well have the same problem in a few months time (if the LNB still has to work hard to get the signal, it will fail again in the near future\0

can the dish not be moved to miss the tree ?

My partner did ask about moving the dish but i dont think the engineer wanted to move it.
The strange thing about it was the tree was larger than it is now. If its still an issue i will ask them to move the dish.

Yes, rain on leaves in the signal path will cause big problems. Make sure the leaves you remove are in the signal path. That will be at an angle around 20 degrees higher than where the dish arm points.
