No signal advice for new customer please!
Hello
Last couple of days I started to get frequent signal drops. It became un-watchable last night so I tried two things I read on here through searching old posts:
First accessing the LNB menu and turning them on and off again. It didn't really improve things. Then through having the unit on standby, disconnecting the 2 LNB's (I'm on sky +), reconnecting them, and then rebooting the machine.
It seemed a bit better after that, but it could have been coincidental.
Tonight I have no signal at all....
I've repeated both methods but I've nothing at all.
What can I do? Is it possible that I've not reconnected the LNB's correctly?
My neighbour just had a new aerial fitted and I did wonder if they knocked the dish. But due to its location it doesn't seem a certainty - and it looks just the same.
Will I need to call sky out? and will I be charged for that? are there any alternatives or things I may still be able to check?
Hope you guys can home. If I don't record Lost for my wife I'll be in big trouble!Last edited by Anderzander; 22-05-08 at 10:55 PM.

Re: No signal advice for new customer please!
You say you are a new customer in which case call Sky out, they should sort it out under warranty.

New being since Christmas... will that still fall under warranty?

Re: No signal advice for new customer please!
Yeah you get 12 month's warranty so shouldn't be a problem

Had similar problem about a month after Sky + installed. Called Sky who came out and replaced the box (new for new) and fitted new LNB.
Touch wood, no problems since!

Re: No signal advice for new customer please!
Well, they came out on Tuesday and it turns out its the huge oak tree outside. Now in full leaf its obscured my signal.
So this Saturday I have the special heights team coming out to move the dish onto the chimney.
So fingers crossed!
I hope it works ok and I hope they do a neat job of it!!

Ah, well, if you'd mentioned that your dish was pointing at a tree.... !!!
See No satellite signal is being received

Re: No signal advice for new customer please!
Are special heights moving the dish for free, or have you got to pay the normal £60 charge.
The installers who did mine in Jan put it where it's pointing right to my neighbours kitchen which has a chimney on the top (and said it would be fine) and I don't get more than 50% signal in the best weather conditions!
Unfortunately I didn't see the signal levels when he was setting up the box and have only discovered the low signal.
