I'll be moving in September to a 3 story house and no dishes are allowed on the front of the house so i will have to have the dish round the back on a pole sneaking sighting over the roof, will a normal installation engineer do this or will it need the special heights team and do they cost more? (trying to save money on phone calls

Re: Special heights team?
sat dish a moving home offer should cost about £60 they will send a normal engineer but they may not do it even special heights may not do it you may have to get an independent to do this for you but that may cost a lot more then £60 as they will have to get right upto the top of your new house then put a large pole
if you do have to get an independent let me know i maybe able to help

Re: Special heights team?
My experience of the special heights "team".
Upgraded to Sky+ a few months back and an engineer was booked to install the dual LNB. Turned up on the appointed day and first thing he said was "don't think I'll be able to reach that dish".
He went up but decided that he couldn't reach it without taking a foot off his ladder - apparently against their Elf N Safety rules. He told me I'd need to wait for a special heights team to be available.
"OK, no problem" I say.
"Yes it is" was the surly reply. "If I don't do 4 installs a day I miss out on my bonus" he continued, less than chuffed. Not sure how this was my problem, but there you go.
So a few days later on the agreed date, I get a call at 9am telling me the SHT will be with me inside the hour,
At 3.30pm, there is a knock on the door. "Alright Guv? Here to sort out yer dish like".
Now call me naive, but I was expecting scaffolding towers, ladders stays, crampons, ice picks, oxygen tanks etc. etc. What we actually had was two teenage lads and their independent van, one ladder, a shifting of Elf N Safety liability away from Mr Murdoch and a slightly more flexible approach to personal safety...

Re: Special heights team?
Just spoke to sky about putting the dish on my chimney and they said it would be no problem, would need to confirm at booking stage about needing the special heights team,(said the system was down for one reason or another and to ring back to book)
was advised the special team consited of 2 people (normal install was only one person)
still all comes under the same call out charge (£65),
will decide tomorrow as the local firm did quote about £100 but would put up a new dish/cable and LNBLinks

Re: Special heights team?
There was maintenance on some areas of the system last night so that might have been why you need to call back. At one point yesteday our main system dropped and we couldn't take calls for an hour... not fun lol
