been on the blower to sky today, and being the cheapskate i am, i've booked them for friday so no long wait for the answer.

did ask about LNB / cable / dish and was advised it was included (if needed) in the price (65)

will let you know how it goes

      Re: Special heights team?

Satdish, when I moved back end of last year, I told sky that I needed the dish placed on the chimney and that I would need a special heights team sent, and that I didn't want a normal muppet sent as I know they wouldn't do it.

Person on the other end tried to umm and err a bit, but I held firm and said that's what I wanted.

Cost was normal amount for moving, 50-60, something like that.

As for the work done, top notch, much better then the noobs I had do the 8ft high one - that took 3 hours, this guy managed to do it in about 45 mins, and that included testing the system

      Re: Special heights team?

Well i'm back in the land of Sky + (to have to watch a programe as it airs is realy quite tediuos)

i was at work and left it to the wife to sort him out

by all accounts he was there about 3 hours and ended up fixing it to the chimney (was going to put on a pole along the side of my house, but still a problem with tree). Checked with the wife about the LNB and she showed the one he had thrown away, so no problems there

dish looks great on the chimney (by virtue of the fact you can hardly see it )

all in all seems like a very good job

H&S seems to have been blown out the window, as there was only one fitter and the wife was not sure if he was a contractor or employed by sky (she did say he was very good looking , and would not even have a cup of tea in the whole time he was here)

not sure what i'm more worried about.. the H&S disregard or the fact my wife was at home with a "very good looking man" for 3 hours

Edit: just a couple of little things that i may have asked the fella if i was home. he has left the bracket on the wall where the dish used to be, and he has run new cable to the old dish point and joined with what looks like a bit waterproof tape (i would have asked hime to remove the old bracket, and i also would have asked him to un-clip the wire from the old position as it would have reached the new position of the dish )

It's a pity that you could not remove the old dish and cable yourself so that you would have got a complete new run. Joints in co-ax should be avoided where possible.

      Yep, thats what i thought.
its just strange how the wire would have been the right size (if anything a bit longer), but he choose to run some new stuff (along a gutter) and join it

But hey, it works at the moment

      Re: Special heights team?

Your description of wires running along gutters and joined co-ax just makes me very happy that I've have never allowed any Sky person near my own set-up.
