      Sky digibox stuck on standby

      Hi

Over past few days when watching sky it would all of a sudden go into standby mode. A few times powering it off at the mains and back on again would solve the problem. But now I can't get it off standby is my box dead? I have had it since sky digital first launched and its a Panasonic one of the very first boxes. I have tried the resetting trick holding down backup button but nothing.

Also I have had the same card for the last 10 years or so..should i get this changed as well?

I don't wanna ring sky and get quoted for an engineer to come out and tell me what i know and charge me for it, any chance of a free box upgrade? It's the normal sky and not sky+.

      cheers

Re: Sky digibox stuck on standby

A viewing card won't cause the symptoms you describe.

Sky will not give a free anything. They will attempt to lock you into a Sky+ contract instead. You'll end up paying more.

The backup button doesn't "reset". It attempts to download the latest stable firmware. Attempting to do this with a sick Digibox can screw things up royally.

Your Digibox sounds as if it's past its "use by" date. Buy a more recent model via eBay or your local rag. Phone Sky and ask them to activate your card in the replacement Digibox. They will ask for details off the "Information" menu screen.
