      SKY viewing card

I'm moving and cancelled the BT line, SKY contract (TV, Talk & Broadband). I know I still need to pay for the rest of the contract period. But since I've received the cancellelation letter from SKY then If I give the sky box to my friend with the card, would he be able to watch free channels? Will I ever be charged becasue my viewing card will be that sky box?

      Re: SKY viewing card

If you've cancelled Sky then the Digibox automatically becomes FTA. You can receive all FTA channels without a card (BBC/ITV and various others).

Obviously you can't receive Sky programmes.

The problem is FTV channels - these are subscription free but encrypted, and for those you need a Sky Freesat card. FTV channels include FIVE.

My own action would be - connect it and try. Maybe Sky leave the old card FTV?

In any case you won't need to connect to a phone line and Sky won't know who, if anyone, is using your box and/or card unless you tell them. And unless you have a current Sky contract they can't charge you anything.

If you want a legitimate Sky Freesat card they are available from Sky for a modest amount (not sure what but say 20 for a one off payment).

Last time when I cancelled Sky TV subs, my viewing card was left FTV - could still get Channel 4 & Five

      Re: SKY viewing card

It should only stay as FTV if the contract has been completed for over a year, If its withing the year then sky can still request a deinstallation and not allow the FTV to stay, they might have FTV temporarily,

      Regards

      P
