Digibox died-Can i replace it with a 2nd hand one?

My original SKY Digital digibox died this afternoon after 10+ years of service,Lol.
It was randomly switching on/off, with a frozen picture. And now is totally dead(no lights)

Can i just get a replacement off ebay?
Or do i need to buy one through Sky(who would probably want £100-£200 for another box), seeing as mine is a tad out of warranty.

Will i need the same make/model box, or can i use any(with my viewing card in)?

No you can get one from where you like, but you will have to ring Sky to have the viewing card reauthorised with the new box.
Pity you are going to get rid of it, my original 1998 Pace is still going strong after a power supply repair kit fit.

My old Thomson box died a couple of months ago.

Got a new shape Thomson from ebay for £30 + £7.99 p+p.

Must admit i haven't phoned Sky to get the card married to the box, but it works fine at the moment.

Brian69-This was a Panasonic box, i think Sky only supplied Pace and Panasonic when they first launched Digital.

Do Sky have any problems switching the card over? Or do they do it no questions asked?

In that case I'd ring them up and politely ask for a replacement free of charge. If they refuse I'd tell them I'm going to cancel and see what happens.
