No Satellite Signal Being Received - BBC News24

anyone else still having problems?

my News 24 is still playing up (mainly pixelation and sound drops). despite me trying to explain to Sky that it's down to a change in the transponder (and has affected lots of people), i just keep getting the standard 'check connections' etc. reply!!!!

I have fuzzy 503 and 504 and some BBC radio -is there no answer yet? I live in Gwynedd.

My signal strenght is 75% and the quality is 50%.

Your quality reading is low and this points to dish mounting/alignment/cable problems. Mine is 90% and strength is 80% and I have had no problems at all for the last ten years.

You can check the BBC transponder signal by using the Manual Tuning menu:
Press [services] 401 [select] 5
Enter the parameters:
11954
H
27.5
2/3
[Search]
The signal strength and quality will be displayed. If the quality is low (less than 40%) then that explains any problems. Adjust dish alignment and LNB skew to maximise that quality reading.

The uplink provider for the transponder that News 24 uses did some work to replace a part of the uplink chain. This is meant to have improved the carrier to noise ratio slightly so some people who did have problems with News 24 may find it working now.

I heard that it was caused by interference from the Badr satellite.

Badr (at 26E) shares a few close frequencies with Astra 2A, but its beam is more focused on Africa, if that was interfereing with Astra 2A then I'd have thought other transponders would also be affected.
