Sky magic eye coax problem?
Hi,
I have recently ran a coax cable from the main sky box to the bedroom and using a sky magic eye intended to be able to change channels from the 2nd TV.
This is not the case as i can see the picture with sound but cannot change channels. At times the image will lose colour and flicker but will then go back to normal. I have two sky remotes and both work on the skybox but none work on the sky magic eye on the 2nd TV. I have enabled RF on the skybox too.
i took the sky magic eye back to replace it incase it was faulty but the new one made no difference!
i really have no idea why this does not work, would it be the cabling (my termination at the ends)? if it was that then why do i get a picture? why does it not let me change channel?
say it was the cabling that was faulty, why would it show the picture with sound but not change the channel?
any help welcome.
Si

Re: Sky magic eye coax problem?
The light never comes on at all. RF2 is enabled on the skybox and all is in the right ports.
Can it be a cabling problem if the picture and sound still work?

Re: Sky magic eye coax problem?
The RF2 output on the Sky box supplies a DC 5volt (I think) feed which powers the remote magic eye. You may have an open circuit somewhere in your cabling.
You will still get picture and sound as the RF will still work with a capacitive coupling.
Connect a circuit tester to the centre pin and screen at one end of the cable, should be open circuit, short out the other end and you should get continuity.

Scary thought me running naked downstairs in the middle of the night.

Re: Sky magic eye coax problem?
Are you connecting directly to the tv? do you go via a vcr or other device? If connected directly to the tv, try a portable tv with a short coax lead in same room as box to check if light comes on, it must be on to send return signal.

Re: Sky magic eye coax problem?
Have you tried the magic eye connected directly to the RF2 socket
Just to prove that it works
