      Sky Sub Price Rise?

Reports of people being sent letters of price rises,

From what I can tell, The price rises arent so much (~3 -Max Stated), But in terms of for Sky, Around 3 x 8Million Subscribers of Whatever, a Month, Sky is actually making a fair bit more.

But then thinking of that, Sky have just recently invested in Lost, Prison Break and a hell load of other HD Content.

I thought there was supposed to be a price increase in September, or are these people recieving these price rises now because they are comming off the one year 25% reduction promotion off the full package. Mine is due to finish next month and I am planning on dropping some channels anyway that I don't watch much.

Dont quote me on this, But it would seem its,
1.50 Rise for anyone with a premium channel.
      1.00 For all the others.

This is supposed to be all explained in the letter with the Sky Magazine, But, Yes you are right, The increases start from September, But people are being informed now, Must be due to some regulation letting you know beforehand.

I don't understand the 1.00 for all others, do you mean 1.00 for each TV package, if so that is going to had a few pounds onto somebody on the full package.

      1.50 for Movies
      1.50 for Sports
6.00 for TV pacakges (1.00 for each of the 6 packages).

I did read somewhere that they were going to reduce the number of the entertainment packages so perhaps this might explain the "1.00 for all others" bit

Edit - Thinking about it again, I think I uderstand it now. If you have the full package then it is a 3.00 increase (1.50 for Sports and 1.50 for Movies). If you have any of the entertainment packages then it is a 1.00 increase maximum.

      Sorry,
      Its something like this,
No matter now many mixes with no premium channels = 1.00 rise
No matter how many mixes with no matter how many premium = 1.50 rise

From all this can it be assumed that ideas of shedding the 2,4,6 mix pattern and News and Events has been discarded? Another oddity is that the Sky site only allows chice of 2 or 6 mixes. You cannot opt for4

I was playing around with this on the Sky site the other day and their is an option on their site to have 4 mixes despite what the site might say.

Hopefully this link will work as you can do the 4 mixes here:

I await my Sky magazine with interest.

Though IMHO it's not showing much skill to have sites that show diffeent things. Slipshod!

      Re: Sky Sub Price Rise?

Bits and pieces of info, but who can be sure some is not misinfo, is appearing in posts across in Digital Spy, so it's puzzling why nothing has appeared in Sky News and Announcements. Don't you think? Or perhaps the whole package of changes hasn't been finalised yet and they're doing the easy bits first.
