Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
Sky need to change their prices earlier than usual I would guess as they would be nervous of making changes at the same time, or after BT. Although we don't know what BT will charge for European football, let's say they start at £3 a month, it means potentially a Sky World and BT Sport subscriber is looking at £6.00 + a month subscription rise. This will surely leave a number of subscribers questioning if they will take both sports services, and something will have to give. More worryingly, where will we be by September 2016? People subscribing to Sky World and BT Soprt could well be paying up to £150 per year more than they do now.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
Most* people on the legacy package (shown as variety HD on a bill) had an increase of £2.00 last september = £24 per year.
If the news is correct then this june it's going to be £3.00 = £36.
That's an increase of £60 per year in the space of 9 months.
I've switched electricity suppliers for little more than that before.
And to think that a significant portion of that may well find its way into the pockets of foreign teenage millionaires who run around in shorts hugging each other for a living.
*For some unknown reason mine only increased by £1.00 last september.
This despite everybody else i know on the same package incurring a £2.00 increase.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
I think that Sky have been chipping away at the legacy discounts (awarded to subscribers taking less than all 6 entertainment packs when these were abolished). If you previously had all six or only variety with style and culture then no discount would have been given so the package would only have attracted a £1 price increase.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
Believe me, that wasn't it.
I'm talking about different accounts which had identical subscriptions prior to the price increase - having different price increases.
My mums went up by £2.00 for instance.
Mine just by £1.00, yet we both subscribed to identical packages.
In fact she'd never benefited from any kind of offer or discount whatsoever, whereas i'd had a couple including ½ price HD for an entire year.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
Cost was identical too.
Approximately 6 weeks before the increase, i phoned sky to downgrade my package to leave just the old entertainment & documentary mixes in place, safe in the knowledge that when the packages changed i'd be given the other 4 mixes as part of the new entertainment extra package at no extra cost.
Shortly after, i did exactly the same for my mum - on the phone at hers & with her bill & other details on screen.
Our monthly direct debits to sky were identical until last september.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
I think I pointed this out last September that some accounts lost some price freeze and others didn't. Apparently identical accounts otherwise.
Possible reasons: longer tenure? Previous discounts on package? Previous cancellation attempts? There will be something different between the two.
Unlike previous years there was no across the board rule on reduction in price freeze and apparently this year is the same, where "some" customers will see "some" reduction of their price freeze. So you might get a bigger increase gymno. Please note the views and recommendations in my posts are my own and in no way reflect the views of Sky
