Hmm.
I know they dropped the £2.50 for not having sky talk a while ago.
Was that the right way around - £2.50 for no talk & £5 for no tv?
The current half price offer at £3.75 per month even without tv does suggest the premium has been withdrawn.
Worth knowing for if i do consider going freesat.
Bloody football.
edit
I got it the wrong way around.
Was £2.50 for not having tv & £5 for not having talk.Last edited by gymno; 12-03-15 at 11:57 PM.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
Bl00dy football indeed. And a bring forward from September to June for the annual price increase.
Those price increases may be as yet unconfirmed, but sadly I am expecting increases in that sort of ballpark across the whole TV subscription side of things (not just for sports) as we all get the "privilege" of paying for the massively ridiculous price that Sky have "negotiated" for 3 more years of Premier League football.
Have to say that BT Sports played a blinder there. They scared Sky into massively overpaying to win the top PL football package, whilst keeping their own increased cost at a fairly affordable level (plus they have got a wide range of football competitions to show into the bargain). So now Sky must embark on massive annual cost savings plus annual subscription increases plus (presumably) a reduction in money to invest in new products and services for the next 3 years or so.
Let's just hope that phone & broadband customers don't also get stung with over the top increases to "help out".
So, looking forward to getting written confirmation of the actual price increases at the end of the month!++ speedyrite ... powered by NOW Broadband from June 2018 ++

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
Oh well, here we go again.
I left sky last year when the prices went up only to re-join at a discounted rate for a year.
Looks like I will be dusting off my freesat box when my 12 month contract is up if these rumours are correct.
I just cannot justify the immense cost now rather than being about affording it.
There are so many dead wood channels, can't they get rid of them to cut costs?

It would not surprise me at tall. Some one as got to pay for the obscene amount of money they payed for the football , and all the other freebees they are giving away to new customers. The lastest being a free 32" LG tv seen this morning on tv. Unless I get a new deal I will be looking else ware. High time they gave something to there loyal customers instead of keep uping the price.

Vote with your feet, I do every year!
Some will know that I have posted annually about the cost dilemma and justifying it, usually resulting in me giving notice and then agreeing a new deal!
You have to be prepared to go though (because you may not get a discount), but in the last 3 years I have had a 75% off return to Sky offer and 2 years of 50% off. I can understand why these discounts may upset some people, in fact I have said previously I think Sky should drop all discounts and just lower the package costs for all, but the bottom line is loyalty and apathy doesn't reward anyone but them I'm afraid.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
I would expect that all the discounts are worked out before hand and everyone else who pays the full price will also subsidise the discounts.
I appreciate that Sky make different offers available to entice new customers, but perhaps it is time for the to automatically offer a gradated level of discounts based on how long you have been with Sky.
As a suggestion:
- 5 years : 3-5%
- 10+ years : 5-10%
If these were applied automatically, I think that many people would be happier.
I know the figures are low. Remember that they need to fund the discounting somehow. Ultimately they could just increase everyone's subscriptions, then apply the discounts, making it look like you are better off.
I doubt the the actual increase in June will be anything like what was spread on the Internet though. I think someone just likes to stir things up a little, but until we have a clear idea we can't say what is happening.

Re: Price of Sky TV packages to increase June 2015
My personal prediction is that all we'll see is a standard increase of £1 on the bundles & movies + maybe a bit more on sports this time.
I'm pretty sure that basic tv has increased by £1 every year since i signed up in 2008.
What stands out most for me though is the shift forward from september to june, erm, just after the football bid fiasco.
I totally agree with seawrights' sentiments here:

Hello All
I think that Gymno is right that the increase for most packs will be around a £1.00 although
the Sports Pack will more then likely be much more to offset the football renewal cost.
I love scubbie's idea about the discount based on length of years with Sky but I
think it will be a non starter as this has been raised before & Sky are not bothered about
long term customers : Its new customers that 'look good ' ..........
What they really need to look at is the Pack Content give the customer a choice pick the
channels they want & pay accordingly : leave out the channels they never watch !! but
it wont happen because it will not suit sky or the other providers.
Just a Thought......!!! 'Off now' to get the guinness : St Patrick God Bless Him !!
