Re: The HD Subscription Rumour
At least Sky did drop their ridiculous multi-HD charges last year and now only charge for HD once regardless of how many HD boxes you have. That saved me an extra £10 a month as I have 2 HD boxes here
Also I *guess* once Sky HD subscriber numbers reaches a critical mass (which, by the sounds of things, isn't far off), the costs will also be absorbed into the standard TV package costs. I'd be interested to know the HD subscriber numbers in comparison to the total subscriber numbers for Sky TV.Last edited by James_Mitchell; 07-09-12 at 05:02 PM.

Re: The HD Subscription Rumour
I got sky hd at reduced price for a year, but once thats finished I will drop it as its not worth £10 a month. You only get the channels you subscribe to in Hd and a lot of the programes are not in true HD anyway.

Re: The HD Subscription Rumour
It really depends on what you watch and whether you prefer HD or SD.
Channel 5 for example is increasing their HD content, but it doesn't require the HD subscription.
Sky 1, Sky Living and Sky Atlantic do repeat a lot of old series which were made before HD became available (Start Trek, Passport Control, X-Files, Stargate) but there are also many series which are new and are in full HD. Episodes of ER, Futurama, The Simpsons are available in both SD only and HD, depending on when they were made.
All the other standard HD channels also show a lot of repeats which were made before HD became available. The sports and Movie HD channels tend to show a lot more HD content though.
Try enabling the feature to highlight those programmes & films in HD and you'll see better which ones are in HD. Remember that channels 1-5 are only SD, you would need to check out their HD equivalents.Again though, these are free and don't require the HD subscription anyway.

Re: The HD Subscription Rumour
On my cancelled multiroom subscription I can only get ITV1 HD by using the add channel function. I have asked Sky about this but their only suggestion is to pay £25 for a freesat card.Interestingly they had previously sent me a duplicate card (the serial# of which customer services do not recognise) that does allow me to select ITV1 HD from the channel guide, however with this card I get the wrong regional variations.

Re: The HD Subscription Rumour
This I find hard to believe. ITV1 HD (channel 178) is a Free-to-air channel. To confirm this I just removed my viewing card and could still see it.
If it were ITV2 HD, ITV 3 HD and ITV 4 HD then yes you do need a valid HD subscription.
Take a look at the Wikipedia page to check out some of the others: List of channels on Sky - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
