Even so, it would mean that the router has not been restarted at any other time since this issue began to always restart at 00:30. If the router was rebooted now, then the reset would not happen until 16:00 tomorrow, then we can say it IS DHCP related.

It was Seawright who suggested turning it off overnight, my suggestion was to disconnect everthing WiFi and LAN, both and then one by one to see if it was an external device causing the issue.

Whatever, I think you may be correct in suggesting that there is a hardware issue.

I am also wondering whether it could be a third party issue too? Someone is deliberately hacking into my router/internet connection?

This problem only happened recently, so something, or someone is doing this, whether maliciously or not.

I wonder if I would have the same problem if I went to another ISP and whether this is confined to sky alone

What I will do tonight is before reset is to connect the 102 up, although the 102 is far inferior to the sagem, but I am willing to give it a go.

Re: Router now resets every night

(SR102) Last monday night I got the new firmware - since then the new firmware has caused between 4-5 drop outs daily, mostly at night.

Sky can see i had 1 -2 errors every 15 mins with the old router firmware - the new firmware is causing almost 200 every 15 mins.

Sky have sent me a new router today with the old firmware version so they can see if the errors are back to normal and that the sync holds.

The new router has synced higher and stayed solid for the last 6 hours. I have fibre suport calling me at 7.30 to check the line and monitor it over the next few nights. If it doesnt drop at all it will prove its the newest firmware - if not engineer for my line!

If you think your router may have been hacked, change the Admin password and the wifi password. Also make sure that Remote Management is turned off and disable Respond to Ping. It is unlikely you have been hacked, but doing this may set your mind to rest.

      Thank you Tom

Last night I swapped back to the SR102, and it just did the same as it did when I first bought it, every 30 minutes the connection dropped, so I had no choice but to go back to the Sagem. I guess I have to put up with it cutting out once a day, as there seem to be no real solution to stop this.

Unless of course I change ISP, which is a little drastic I know. I wish I knew if this was a Sky isolated problem or whether I'd get better service with another ISP.

Re: Router now resets every night

It might be easier for Sky tech. support to diagnose a problem that occurs every thirty minutes compared to one that only occurs every twenty four hours.

You have had disconnections for sometime I notice. I remembered seeing your name some time ago, so searched on your username.
You were asking similar questions about disconnections and hacks into your router back in December 2012 and quite a lot of times in similar vein since then.
Looks like you have ongoing problems with your line.
Can you put up your router stats and what devices and how you connect to your routers? This may show to others how your line is looking.

      Here is the thread from 2012, your line looked quite unstable then;

Re: Router now resets every night

Thank you seawright, but to be honest that would be a waste of time, they would only blame BT for the fault on the line, and then you ring BT and they say it's a problem with Sky, so you go round in circles. I'd waste time waiting on the phone, being put on hold, and getting no valid solution. It's one big headache. Last time I wasted 40 on buying a new router SR102 which was worse and far inferior to the Sagem. My only option is to change ISP. Seem to have exhausted every other variable.

Just wondering why you would phone BT. Is your line rental with BT?
If this is the case it might help it you took your broadband and telephone service with the same supplier so that one firm couldn't blame the other and vice versa.

Yes we have line rental with BT, and we have Sky television package and broadband.
