2504n router - new firmware killed port forwarding?

      Hi

My ancient 2504n router got a firmware update a couple of days ago to 3.18Skya4G.

It has the port forwarding rules configured as required e.g. port 80 open for http and pointing to forward to the right internal IP address, but nothing is getting through from externally. When I try to connect using another machine on a 4G data network, it can't get a response. In fact nothing gets a response through the firewall on the router. Access to the internet from inside to outside is working fine.

Any ideas how to fix this?? Does anyone recognise that firmware version? I can't find any reference to it anywhere.

      Many thanks

I've received this update this morning and now my wireless access control list no longer works, although all of the correct entries are in there - I've had to disable it to get my usual devices to connect.

I don't do any port forwarding so can't comment on that aspect.

Re: 2504n router - new firmware killed port forwarding?

Pretty shabby of sky doing this. They have released a firmware which totally screws up various bits of functionality. I was planning on upgrading to fibre, so I have now made that order - if the fibre router doesn't port forward correctly, then the order is being immediately cancelled as part of the cooling off period and I'm finished with Sky for broadband. A shame really, as I've had nothing but a great experience for over 8 years.

This needs to be reported directly to sky.

The firmware looks more likely to be for the 2504 & not the 2504n.
Pictures for identification are further down the first post here: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-r...-firmware.html

If it is for the 2504 there won't be that many customers still using one, hence the lack of info around & the need to report it asap.

@gymno - don't suppose you have a copy of the firmware you are using for the 2504n? I can't find a download anywhere.

Edit: actually, I might well have a 2504 rather than a 2504n. How would I know the difference? Presumably the n brings WirelessN, which it doesn't see to have...

Yes, the non-n version has only wireless b&g.
Details & pictures of all sky routers are in this post: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-r...-firmware.html

Re: 2504n router - new firmware killed port forwarding?

Yes, looking at those pics, it is the 2504 that I have. Annoyingly, the custom firmware does not load any more, following the latest sky update.

Have you tried the recovery tool?
Sky Help: Download the Sky router recovery tool
This should result in the old 2.8 version.

Of course, it may be that they'll push out the problematic 3.18Skya4G to you again in a day or two.
Or maybe not if people report the issues & they halt the roll-out.
