      Printing from an iPad

I have a new Xerox Phaser 6020 wireless printer - with Apple Air Print feature. I can print from it from my Win7 Asus Laptop - and my Galaxy Tab S - both by wifi. However my wife's iPad Air can detect the printer (as an Air Printer), send data to it but ALWAYS comes back with a message that "Printer is Off Line". I get the same result from some 3rd party apps.
Researching the problem throws up a possible incompatibility with the Router and iPads.
My Sky router is Sagem F@ST2504n.

I have tried all the various resetting options of pad, router, printer etc.

Can anyone print thru this router from an iPad? If so what app??

      Any advice would be appreciated

That printer definitely works with airprint.
It does look like you have to enable the airprint feature from the printer.

Try configuring and/or enabling it via your printer as explained in the manual on page 47

Thanks for the swift reply. I've done all the installation OK as the iPad can see the printer as an Air Printer, and it attempts to send data but then the message that the printer is offline.

I note that you have a different router.

Do you use an app or 'vanilla' iPad - also what iPad?

I do not have that printer myself, but looked on printers Ive printed to and its listed as one I use regualarly at a big IT firm HQ
I also checked the xerox specs and apple docs and its listed as working fine.
Airprint will find many a wireless printer, but that printer does need airprint enabled. Have you checked as above that it is listed as enabled.

I use the printer pro app for printing from many apple devices including an iPad to so many wireless printers now at home and on the road, very rare to find one that does not work these days.
It was free again last month in the apple app store. But there is a lite free version to try. It adds some great printing features.
I do all my 'high end' office word, spreadsheets and presentations (for my IT consultantcy work) on my iPad and it prints them all down beautifully for the times when hardcopy is required.

      Re: Printing from an iPad

      Thanks again
Yes the printer is enabled as Air Printer in the Xerox setup (P47) - in fact I thought I'd try to turn it off and try again but do not seem able to turn it off now.

I have tried Printer Pro lite to test but I still got the same result.

This is why I suspect that it may be a router problem - several online searches indicate this.

      I'll try Pro lite again.

      TY

      Re: Printing from an iPad

There is a xerox printback app for iOS, that looks like the nearest to their own printing app, might be worth a try.
These apps sometimes bypass airplay and talk directly to the printer.

Do not know anything about your model of router, some others on here might help you there.

Is your wireless setup bridged or extended in anyway, that has been known to confuse airplay sometimes?

The Xerox Printback prints thru your pc - but even failed with that.

Sorry do not understand the router question, it's just a home system of router into telephone socket, a few 'boxes' connected by ethernet cable to router and assorted pc's & tablets connected by wifi to router.

      Re: Printing from an iPad

Ok nothing stands out in your setup. Odd one, as from reading through all you have tried, not seeing a problem anywhere.

An old problem that did throw airpint printers off course with apple devices was that the printer configuration was set to display a strange paper size, but that was fixed if I recall in a few major versions back of iOS.

Any chance you could print off the configuration page of the printer and scan or take a photo of it, so we can see.
On page 37 of that pdf if your not sure how.

P 37 is "Adding a printer" so not sure what you meant.
I'll try & post whatever setup data that I can extract.
