      Re: Printing from an iPad

Thanks for those, all looks fine.

I'm really not sure what is causing this, as you can see the printer, and bonjour (how apple communicates with devices like this) is working fine and no ip anomalies that I can see.
I'm going to ask some of my apple developers I work with over the next few days, but will need some information.
Can you look in Settings>General>About on the iPad and supply the following?
      Capacity
      Available
      Version
      Model

There are other ways to print via a PC, like Google cloud print and the like, but not ideal and normally only used for an older non wireless enabled printer.

Just something to try, from safari, go to the google.com or google.co.uk page and use print.
Can you change the paper size?
      Try postcard and a4
If print does not alllow the paper size change, from safari, rather than select print, select More and choose printer pro (the printer pro lite app) and change the paper size in there.

      Re: Printing from an iPad

      Good morning Lettice
      Data on iPad Air:
      Capacity: 11.9gb
      Available: 9.4gb
      Version: 8.2 (12D508)
      Model: MD 788B/A

I can't work out how to select print from a google page - the usual " box with up-arrow" does not have a print option.

From Printer Pro Lite I can change paper size but still get same 'printer is offline' message when I try to print.

It seems to be some glich in the way the iPad 'speaks' to the printer when sending the print data - but well beyond me.

Very many thanks for your help so far - we'll crack it somehow - I hope!

      Re: Printing from an iPad

Ok, long meeting this morning to think over it.

Download and install the free bonjour browser app on the ipad, its an iphone app, so in the appstore, untick ipad only in appstore if you do not see it.
      https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/disc...305441017?mt=8

      Start the app and let us know if it is is seeing the printer with the tabs under;
      Bonjour scanning
      IPP ...
      Printer PDL data stream
      spooler
      World wide web http
      _apple=mobdev2._tcp.

The last will only show the mac address of the printer

Lets try this, when you are sending the job to the printer, do you see anything in the printer queue, looking at the printer queue from your windows machine.

Also, try this in this order
1.On the iPad, turn off wifi and power it down
      2.Turn your printer off
3.Restart wireless on your router, allow it to come to life
      4.Turn on your printer
5.Turn on your iPad and turn on wifi if its off.

Go to Safari or other browser, select any webpage and use Print first then via printer pro lite app
Or go to photos or default mail client and select a photo or email using Print first, then via printer pro lite app

The bonjour browser will rule out your router, as if it reports back fine, its passing through that ok.

      Re: Printing from an iPad

The bonjour browser sees the printer OK. But the _ipp._tcp entry bottom but one line: air = none - is this OK?? Just checked the printer 'web page' and that shows as Air Print as enabled - but is it??

Did the restart as you specified

Will not print either direct or thru printer pro lite - but the latter shows printer as Xerox Phaser 6020 - AirPrint

      Oh dear!

      Re: Printing from an iPad

This is an interesting blast from the past! We've got printers that pre-date AirPrint but printing from iOS devices works fine using Netputing's AirPrint Activator (now called Handyprint). The following links may or may not be of some help to you:

      See: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...atability.html

and in particular for non-Mac users Activate AirPrint on Windows | 9to5Mac
++ speedyrite ... powered by NOW Broadband from June 2018 ++
(previously powered by Sky Broadband from July 2007)

      Re: Printing from an iPad

The print queue shows 'No job' and the print history only lists laptop pc, Android device (my Galaxy Tab S) and printer config pages. Nothing from iPad

Is IPP turned off in your printer configuration settings?
