Was There A Router Upgrade this morning?

I am wondering if there was a router upgrade this morning, or problems with connection

At approximately 02.10 my internet dropped out, and the green ampersand on the router went off.

I turned everything off, went to bed.

I have just turned my computer on now and the router has been totally reset, the wifi light is on (I never use wifi and disable it)

When I log into my router it's back to the original settings and passwords etc...

Is that normal, it has happened before same time, sometimes at 6pm in the evening, I have counted 5 times this year.

Can anyone explain why this has happened? I have a grey Sagemcom router which is fairly new (the last one got replaced)

Anything to worry about, like a security breach?

      Thanks!

I haven't heard of a new firmware for the sagem 2504n, which i suspect you have.
      Picture & details here:
      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-r...-firmware.html
      Current version is 7.16a4N_UNI.

That is odd though, as it usually takes either a firmware update or customer reset to revert all settings to default.
      It hasn't happened on mine.

Actually you are the 2nd person to report this with the sagem in as many days:

What firmware version do you have now. What does it say in the router log?

That's the current version so unless you missed the previous upgrade some time ago, you don't have new firmware.

Re: Was There A Router Upgrade this morning?

Then it's strange that the router reset itself, so if it's not an upgrade why has it reverted to factory settings on more than one occasion. Anything untoward to worry about?

So I go back to my original question if it wasn't a router upgrade then why did it suddenly lose connection and reset? And why has this happened 5 times so far this year.

Re: Was There A Router Upgrade this morning?

I have an idea that it may be a faulty PSU that is causing the problem. The PSUs supplied with Sagem seem to be suspect as there have been many reports of them failing. If the PSU had a glitch where it failed to supply the current, even for an instant, it would have the same effct as power cycling the router. This would cause a reboot, but why it would return the unit to factory default, I'm afraid I have no idea.

Re: Was There A Router Upgrade this morning?

You are right Isitme about the PSU's, at one point they were the only router that Sky had surplus stock of the PSU for so if there was an issue with no power to the router instead of sending a new router they would get sent a new PSU. Every other make would just get sent a replacement router for having no power supply.

Like you say not sure how the power supply cutting off would reset the router unless maybe a change in the voltage or current is having some adverse effect.
