      Hi,

If I wanted to purchase my own router to use on Sky Broadband (and possibly Sky Fibre in the future) what routers would you recommended that would work well with Sky?

      cheers, Rab

If you want to future proof yourself you would have to look at something like this Networking - DSL-AC68U - ASUS Its not cheap but comes well recommended.

      Re: My own router, recommendations?

I was going to ask the same question. I was wondering if there was a router that was better than the Sagemcom model (from Sky) I got at the moment. Are the routers you can get from Argos any better.

Where's the best place to purchase a new router OFFline...

Or is Ebay a viable option to get another router?

      Re: My own router, recommendations?

I don't think there are any routers currently for sale which are not better than the Sagem.

There are plenty of good online retailers where you can get a router. Ebuyer, Dabs, Amazon to name a few. You have to shop around as there can be widely varying prices for the same router. You can use eBay, but unless the router is marked a 'new' you could end up with a lemon. There are quite a few places you can buy routers Offline, as well as Argos there is PC World, Currys, Maplins etc. If you are going to buy Offline, then it pays to do your research online. Too often the 'experts' in highstreet retailers only want you to buy the most expensive and will usually push you to buy an extended warranty, which in my opinion is a waste of money.

If you make up a short list, you will get good unbiased opinions from the members here.

You are right, I recently got the Skyhub SR102 and the connection drops out every hour, whereas the Sagem drops out once a day.

So I have switched back to the Sagem which seems far superior and more reliable that the Skyhub SR102
