      Question Sagem router poor performance

I have been having nightmares with my Broadband, very slow to connect and stabilise, checked everything , re installed from CD, still not good, so I went to the most basic fix, cleaned all connectors with WD40 and a soft cloth, RESULT it's working OK, hope this is helpful thanks

I never use WD40 on anything electrical since I had an explosion and fire in my car engine compartment after spraying WD40 on the electrics, when I read the tin it said "Flammable!" Lol

The temperatures that an engine reaches is not what you are going to get on a telephone connection. However I would question the logic of spray an oil onto an electrical connection.

If you are having connection issues and can trace them to a specific socket, give serious consideration to changing that socket. This might a case of fitting a new faceplate on an NTE5 socket or installing a whole new socket. Personally I would go for a filtered faceplate.

At the same time you should also check down the telephone line for any joints. Check how good they are and consider how easy it might be to replace the cable with a good quality one, not a cheap extension kit from the DIY shop.

Spraying the plug leads and distributor cap with WD40 is a very old trick for getting a damp engine working. Shouldn't do it with the engine running of course.

I also recommend cleaning the phone connections with WD40, it is quite safe if done properly and helps remove corrosive built up.
