      SR102 stopped asking for password

I changed the login password when I first got this router last week and it prompted me for the password each time I tried to access the settings from the summary page on 192.168.0.1

Now it has decided that it no longer requires a password at all!!!

I have changed the password in the maintenance page again but to no avail!

Looks like there is a bug in the SR102 which allows access to all the router pages without a password.

I rebooted my pc after using ccleaner to ensure a new session when using the router pages BUT each time it fails to ask for a password!!!

Looks like you have to logout of the router, closing the browser does not force a logout, unlike other routers I have had.

Also if you forget to logout on the router page, but close your browser. Next time you access the router and this time you do logout, it fails to logout properly!

YOU MUST LOGOUT ON THE FIRST ACCESS, otherwise the hub will thinks it is logged in each and every access, regardless if you hit the logout button!

There is a safety net, the access time, which is set to 5 mins which will force a logout.

But please bear this in mind, if you are accessing your router page, if you DON'T LOGOUT on the first access, and close your browser, other users of the pc will be able to get into the router pages!!!

I think Sky should force a logout of the hub WHEN you close your browser page regardless!

Re: SR102 stopped asking for password

This behaviour is correct. It is also present on most other routers now.

If you have a shared computer, then it would always be a good idea to have multiple user accounts on it. This would get around the issue you are describing.

Another potential problem with logging into the router can be caused by RouterStats Lite. If this is running then it will be logged in. This would mean that you could open any browser on the same computer and gain full access to your router.

Having said all that, if I access my Netgear router, I normally need to log in with the password each time. Since my browser normally keeps the password, I do not normally need to type it in freshly each time. This give me another good reason why you should give each user a separate account.
